Stock Challenge. 25~26 June 2007

As I said in the previous post about this stock challenge thing I went for, I hope most of you know what is it all about. So I don't have to explain it here. =).

Ok. This program is really interesting. They explained to you about the markets, how the markets works and stuffs. The first day we only learnt the basic that is related to the stock markets and more. On the 2nd day, we formed a group that will function like a brokerage firms and did things that brokerage do everyday. except we didn't really buy REAL stocks using real money. or else I will be $6,000 richer by now. hahaha. =)

The game started like this. Each group will recieve $1000 as investment capital. On top of that, groups will recieve "bonus money" as well if we do what they asked us to do correctly. for example, if we brought calculator, stationaries, file, booklet, and stuffs like that on the 2nd day, we'll get bonus for it. Besides that, throughout the game, more bonus is given out for business card, costumes, dividend stocks, etcetc... and guess what, my group is one of the winner for the business card. we got $100 for it. hahaha. We didn't expect to get it because that card is just a simple ones. ahahah.

At the opening round, each group will recieve newspaper (not a real newspaper. they made it) articles for us to decide which stock we want to invest in. Every stock starts at the price of $100 each. As the game continues, the price will either go up, down or remain the same. I won't explain much about this as you all know how stock markets works right? =D. Each and every round, the articles will be given out. That is how the market is affected.

Skip to the end. My group lost. we got a total of $6,020. =(. We made a BIG mistake (thanks to someone) by selling off one of the stocks that keep increasing til the end. we sold at the price of $200 ~ $300 (around that) and it went up to $400 at the end!! and we have 5 of that stocks!! and we left non of it before the last round! that really stinks.!! arghh..! I think my team got 3rd among teams from other schools. the 2nd place for this event is $7,000+. So we MIGHT get 3rd place out of 15 teams (All boys).

Oh well, it doesn't matter that we lost. Most important thing is that we gained experience from this program and had quite a fun day doing these stuffs. I enjoyed doing it. =D.. heeh.

yeah, there are about 200+ teams that made up out 3 ppl from each school. There are 3 categories.. All boys, All girls and Mixed teams. Our school have 4 all boys team. =)
